Nyla’s (The Owner) love for dance started before she could even walk. At just one year old, she wiggled and bounced along to a Sesame Street Dance DVD her mom brought home, and she hasn’t stopped moving since. While growing up, Nyla would sit in her uncle’s room, watching him dance and eagerly joining in. He became one of her biggest inspirations, introducing her to legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Ciara, Aaliyah, and Britney Spears—all of whom shaped her love for music and movement. When he gifted her Ciara’s Goodies CD, Nyla was mesmerized—not just by the music, but by the movement, the energy, and the way dance could bring a song to life.

Between the ages of 7 and 10, Nyla trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance, while also taking gymnastics to build her flexibility. In middle school, she performed live on stage, and in high school, she spent two years on the cheerleading team, bringing her energy and rhythm to the sidelines. At 17, she took her dancing to the next level by training in heels, and from there, she fell in love with the power and confidence of hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and heels styles.

During college, Nyla took her passion beyond performing—she became a instructor, leading two hip-hop dance workshops for students eager to learn and express themselves through movement. That experience reinforced what she always knew: her dream is to teach, inspire, and create a space where dancers, performers, and creatives can grow together.

Nyla has always dreamed of owning a dance studio—a space where she could teach her unique style and create opportunities for other creators and creatives to bring their visions to life. She founded Inner Flow Essence to embody that dream and represent the freedom, expression, and community at the heart of it all.
